~> What is SoF:2 Gold Edition (1.3)?
SoF:2 Gold Edition (1.3) is an updated version of SoF:2 1.0.

~> So whats the difference?
Gold edition features 3 new weapons, new maps, and more importantly, Punk Buster anti-cheating software.

~> Will I be able to play version 1.0 too?
If you follow this tutorial, yes.

~> Things to know before installing:
- In most servers of gold version, Punk Buster is enabled. This means that you will not be able to use any kind of hacks.
- The hash command has been removed from the game. You wont be able to use fullbright, lightmap, third and other hash commands.
- You will not be able to use RPMPro, RPM, Admin mod or any other version 1.0 server mod. There are other mods for version 1.3 though.
- You will need a valid cdkey to play on Punk Buster Enabled servers. The cdkey must not be banned by Pb.
-Punk Buster normally bans players with unrecognised characters in their names (arrows etc).
-Normally you wont be able to use any skin mods on servers.

~> Ok, lets begin!
- First of all, make a copy of the whole "Soldier of Fortune II: Double Helix" folder somewhere else. Name it SoF:2 Gold or something different instead.
- Download the official Gold Version update here.
- Run the update and select the new SoF:2 folder instead.
- Install the patch.

Congratulations! You now have both SoF:2 1.0 and SoF:2 Gold Version installed.

-After installing, open the folder and delete any files that have the following names: "RPM","RPMPro","JA-Mod","Adm","MDX". These are mods for version 1.0, and are useless in 1.3.

-After you do that, delete all your mods from the base and mp folder.

-Then go to base/mp, and delete sof2mp.cfg. The reason you are doing this is because in Gold, Punk Buster checks all your configuration. If some configuration commands are not allowed by Punk Buster, you are making a cvar violation and you will be kicked from Punk Buster servers.

~> Now its time to install some mods

- GoldRush 2.2. Goldrush is a great mod, but due to its size it is not really a popular choice for servers. Dont download if you dont have time.

~> How to install RoCmod
Installing rocmod is easy. just go to your sof2gold folder, and in there you create a new folder called 'rocmod'. The file you have downloaded is .zip type. unzip it, and put the .pk3 file inside the 'rocmod' folder you created. You now have rocmod installed.

~> Punk Buster
Punk Buster is an anti cheating software developed by Even Balance. It is normaly auto-updated, and it detects and bans cheaters with no warning.
So this is how it works. Punk Buster gives player a number called "GUID Number", which is based on their CDKey. Unlike in version 1.0, in which players are banned on IP, in gold version players are banned on their GUID number, which actually is their CDKey. The reason the GUID number excists is so that you wont have your CDKey stolen.
When a player is banned (banned for cheating, not for cvar violations or not recognizable characters), Punk Buster keeps their GUID number stored on a server. Servers running Punk Buster contact this server, and get the data of the banned GUIDs. So, if you are banned for cheating, you are banned everywhere. If your CDKey is banned, you will have to find another one.

~> This is how:
After you are done installing open the SoF:2 gold version folder, and go to base/mp. Open up Notepad, or another text editor and drag the sof2key file in. This is the file where the cdkey is saved. Download the KeyGen here, and try multiple keys until you find one that is not banned from Pb. Remeber to remove the "-" characters.

Run SoF2MP.exe from the new SoF:2 folder and have fun. Remember to have Punk Buster enabled. (the option is seen in the server list screen).

If you do these correctly, you would be able to run SoF:2 Gold and SoF:2 1.0 on the same computer with no problems.
